I'm Isis, a Bay Area resident for 38 years and a happily-ever-after El Cerrito resident for more than 10 years. More importantly, I'm a Black woman pursuing a seat on the El Cerrito City Council.
As a member of the El Cerrito Democratic Club, I passed the George Floyd Resolution which, among other things, donates $3,000.00 to Black led non-profit organizations in our community. Recently elected as the Vice President of the West Contra Costa County Democratic Club, I previously passed a resolution donating half of our club's resources to The Movement for Black Lives. As a volunteer for a local Renter's Clinic, sponsored by El Cerrito Progressives, I acted as a tenant resource. As an independent community resource, I help our older renters keep their homes. The current City Council appointed me to our City's Tenant Protection Task Force. I’m a proud member of Black Women Organized for Political Action (BWOPA), where I support the movement toward Black equity in America. Finally, California Emerge, the premier candidate training program for Democratic self-identified women, trained me to run for this office.
As a certified commercial contracts manager, I identify opportunities and provide solutions. I lead people and processes toward solutions. Solutions are what our City needs right now. My platform solves the top three priorities facing our City, i.e. deficit, affordable housing, and police reform.
I'm also a book loving, dog walking, introvert with a passion for my community. And, I'm the perfect candidate to elect to the El Cerrito City Council.
